Thanks for the great blog idea mom. I upgraded a few things in my house for Christmas. (Scott's presents from me. hehe) I installed a ceiling fan, yes, by myself (Scott helped as much as i'd let him) and built a new computer desk! I LOVE building and installing. I didn't get a pic of my before computer desk, but I did of the light. Enjoy! Hope all your holidays were blessed.

The Beautiful, old school chandeler in the dinning room.

...and the new installed ceiling fan by yours truley.

The two together. I love it!

Wow I wish I was like you! I wouldn't be able to put those two things together! You Go Girl!!
Looks great Shaniel. I also install my new lights. I put a new one in the entry way a couple of days ago. I thought if I had to hire an electrician to do this , I probally wouldn't be doing it. It is fun to have changes though.
Shaniel,
You need to be on Extreme Makeover Home Edition or Trading Spaces! I know you love to build things, repair things, and the like. What a great quality to have. I don't know why I didn't get it. Great Grandma Bates, Leslie, you, and the rest of the kids are very handy with things like that. So now when you come up next week, I would like you to hang my coo coo clock, my big round clock and make sure they work, and.... you can just start at the top of the list! By the way, I love your computer desk. It looks really nice there in the corner. And the celing light/fan will be so nice to have in the summer time. I love mine. Way to go "Shaniel the Builder"! Mom
Good job! It's fun doing things yourself. I'm definately a do-it-yourselfer too. Oh, and thanks for the comment on my blog! My secret was eat a 200 calorie meal every 2 hours six times a day. I also worked out a lot.
Way to go!
OH, I found a before pic of my old computer desk. Its on my moms (Carol and Dave) blog on the sugar cookies post. Go see if you haven't already. ITs the little black one in the same corner as the new one!
Awesome job. I've never been inside your house, but I love the wood floors. Isn't is funny how the smallest things can make the biggest difference in a room?
By the way, does Scott know that Carson has volunteered him to come and play his guitar for our class? He left a note on my desk the at the beginning of the week, and he asked me about it again today. If Scott IS interested, we'd love to have him. Just call me at home or school to schedule it. He's a character!!! I love him in my class.
WoW! Very nice! That would definitely be the advantage to owning rather than renting. You can make all the changes you want and you don't have to worry about a landlord =)
Lokks really nice. I make Tim do all that stuff!
Very nice. I use to do things like that until I married Chad. I might not do things right, like find a stud to put the nail in.
I like the desk Shaniel! And good job on the ceiling fan.
Shaniel,
hey, come back. I miss you! mom
